Her fine connect with jazz may be a result of growing up near the Chicago sound; her sensitivity can only come from feeling the music.
Janet first impressed me with her voice when she sang in our church (in the 50's) and sang simply and cleanly while others were warbling up and down the scales. I'm glad she is still at it. Her latest album is a piquant mix, familiar and surprising-- beautiful." |
