Fialkowska plays them with emphasis almost totally on the poetry, avoiding opportunities for display and even interrupting the momentum of the famous Ocean Étude (Op. 25, No. 12) with rubato. But Louis Lortie (Chandos) gives us a more complete picture of what Chopin put into this music. Opening Day provides excellent recording and program notes. --Leslie Gerber« less
