"Most tracks on this CD are background musical pieces from the TV series (part 2, with Spark & co.), so they tend to be subtle and short. The songs convey a variety of moods, having been used for varied situations throughout the series.There are not many songs with lyrics, but that doesn't make them any less a pleasure to listen to.Not distracting at all, you can listen to this CD at any time.#1 "Rosebush." Like a sweet lullaby, very pretty.
#2 "Praise for the Good Earth." Some singing, sounds religious.
#3 BGM.

#5 BGM. Triumphant, heroic. Marching beat.
#6 BGM. Upbeat, sounds like something a minstrel would play.
#7 BGM. With chanting monks.
#8 BGM. Sounds like somebody sneaking around
#9 BGM. Very foreboding feel.
#10 heroic BGM. Sounds like the good guys are confidently heading into battle, and will definitely triumph.
#11 BGM. Often heard when the young Neese appears. A woman softly sings (no actual lyrics)
#12 BGM. Soft and soothing, makes me think of a sunrise.
#13 BGM. Very medieval.
#14 BGM. A little bit sneaky sounding.
#15 BGM. A little more upbeat.
#16 BGM. That foreboding feeling again.
#17 BGM. Fairly somber; sense that something has been lost.
#18 BGM. Another one with that foreboding feeling.

#23 "Crossroads of the Forest." One of the more upbeat tunes.I picked this up in a comic book store quite some time ago, for around $15-$20. I was a little unsure, because I didn't know if I'd like the music; but I really liked the anime series. I'm glad I bought it, it's now one of my favourite CDs!I'd recommend this CD for people who have enjoyed any of the Lodoss series, and those who like music with a "medieval" flair.For lyrics, check out animelyrics.com"

"Just to clarify - this is the second soundtrack CD for the Record of Lodoss War: Chronicles of the Heroic Knight anime series, not the original Record of Lodoss War series. Both are excellent series, as are their respective soundtracks, but they are noticeably different.
For the most part, this particular volume in the series is made up of orchestral music, with a few vocal songs included. This kind of symphonic score is perfect for the sword and sorcery themed anime, and sets the tone of the series brilliantly. Like all of the Lodoss scores, it also works quite well on its own. Listening to a soundtrack like this one while reading a fantasy novel definitely enhances the reading experience, as it conveys the sense of epic quests and grand adventures that fantasy is built upon.
Since it is the middle volume in the series, the music tends to focus more on calmer (almost Celtic) passages than on the type of epic battle music you hear in volume three. At this point in the anime, the story was still building focus, and the music reflects that. The songs with vocals (in Japanese of course) are fairly calm as well. I'm not as good a judge of these kinds of songs as serious anime devotees, but they seem to enhance the overall experience and convey the mood of the series fairly well.
As a Record of Lodoss War fan, as well as a fan of symphonic scores and fantasy fiction, I definitely recommend this soundtrack CD. Along with the soundtracks to Braveheart and Final Fantasy Tactics, the Record of Lodoss War soundtrack CDs go well beyond simply providing background music."
