I forgot I got this, with all the christmas music. This is a moody, skillful CD, and I am very glad I chose it. It also brings back some great memories.

"Images of Humphrey Bogart as Philip Marlowe private eye gliding through a rainy night in 1930's L.A. come to mind. Great, moody, "lone sax in the night" set against a lush orchestral background bringing images of neon lit rainy nights in the big city. This album grew on me the more I listened to it. highly recommended if you like late night jazz."
Gorgeous, dark film noir recordings

"Flawlessly played and recorded... beautiful arrangements, wonderful backdrop music for conducting an extra-marital affair or planning a double cross.... makes my living room turn black and white and rainy when played. A favorite of mine."

"I got this cd years ago on a recommondation from a jazz player ( I'm a jazz wannabe) when I asked him if for suggestions for music that was not "smooth jazz" but not be-bop, outside stuff (Miles, Coltrane, Monk) that I couldn't get into. Of everything that he came up, this cd was an instant hit with me and continues to be a favorite. Sonically, it sounds just great and the playing is by top notch jazz session guys, staying absolutely true to the film noir vibe that was intended.
I can't think of another cd, except "Body Heat" by the same group that gets this vibe anywhere near this good. Charlie Haden's Quartet West had a similar concept, but sounds more like a "true jazz" album with real improv and not so precisely arranged as this.
It's the PERFECT late night, brandy / martini disc. I'd give it three thumbs up if I had them!"
