Beautiful, authentic, sung with understanding and love

"I don't know if this is because Redpath is a woman or not, but she never sings with that gung-ho insistent cheerfulness that many male singers of Scottish/Irish songs have. Her interpretations are sensitive and lovely. This CD includes the lyrics--a pity that some of her other CDs don't."

"I first heard Redpath sing the song titled Faraway Tom on NPR's Thistle and Shamrock many years ago. I was blown away by her singing style, so full of emotion. That song has stayed with me since then and it has taken me many years to come upon this album. The rest of the album is superb as well."
