"As a teacher of voice and a singer myself, this performer has probably the most effortless voice I've ever heard. Her tone is always beautiful, her diction immaculate and her breath control truly astonishing. I don't think I've ever heard a voice to compare with Jean Redpath's. A joy from beginning to end."
Good honest folk singing.

"Tied of hype and general trash in popular music? This CD gives simple but heartfelt Scottish folk songs. Many of the tracks are unaccompanied voice and some have understated guitar.Jean Redpath's voice is sweet but not cloying.Where are the melodies in current songs? The songs here have fantastic melodies. This CD is like a breath of fresh air: a fine voice and appealing songs."
Another triumph from Jean Redpath

"Has she ever done anything that's NOT wonderful? She sings these songs better than I've ever heard them done by anyone else and makes it seem as easy as breathing. There are some great songs here-- old warhorses like "The Gypsy Laddie" and "She Moved Through the Fair," in simple, fresh interpretations, but also some songs that are much less well-known, though equally good. "The Kirk Swaree" made me laugh out loud. A great album!"

"Honest and Emotional. There is nothing like the singing of Jean Redpath. If you have any interest in scottish music you must own this. There are songs like Nicky Tams that will make you laugh so hard. Listen to the samples and put this on your list."
