"For awhile JEANNIE C. RILEY was the hottest name not only in Country music but the music world, and these are some of the songs why. This is another compilation of JEANNIE C. RILEY's Plantation hits... it seems the same handfull of songs are reissued over and over and over, And this collection is no exception. So odds are you if you have any other CD of hits by JEANNIE C. you'll have these songs. Still at that it's a neat collection of many (not all) of her Plantation hits. Topped off with the #1 Country #1 Pop Multi-Million selling Worldwide hit "HARPER VALLEY PTA", "THE GIRL MOST LIKELY" also a #1 Country Hit hitting on the pop charts and yes also hitting world wide, and though because of the magnatude of the hit "PTA" was people don't realize that "THE GIRL MOST LIKELY" is also a GOLD selling record by todays standards. "OH SINGER" Another huge hit for JEANNIE C., and as was often the case with her hits crossed onto the pop charts, this being her 3rd biggest pop hit. In fact JEANNIE C. would cross over to the pop charts 9 times, unheard of for a country female vocalist at that time. The Grammy nominated "THE BACK SIDE OF DALLAS" is also on here what an awesome song with the dominate honky tonk piano, and the "Sitar" a rare gound breaking sound in country music at that time, and yet another well deserved Grammy nominated hit "GOOD ENOUGH TO BE YOUR WIFE" is also included on here. The acoustical guitar drivin' "ROSES AND THORNS" another one of JEANNIE C.s finest hits is also here, This single just proved to show you that JEANNIE C's music got better and better what an amazingly flawless performance and production, it's too bad that it would be her final hit single for Plantation records, With the chart run of "ROSES AND THORNS" JEANNIE C. had moved to MGM records, Where all her material recorded for MGM has never been re-issued... now thats what we would like to see. Still this is a neat CD, The packaging is also neat, with the beautiful front cover that really did capture who the real JEANNIE C. RILEY was, to the "Sex-Kitten" mini-skirt look on the back cover that JEANNIE C. was so famous for."

"This is a collection of Jeannie C. Riley's biggest hits from the peak years of her career on Plantation Records, 1968-1971. These are the original recordings from a period when Jeannie was just as big a country female vocalist as Tammy Wynette and Loretta Lynn. Most of these songs hit the top ten, the only one that failed to hit the top 25 was "The Generation Gap" which was perhaps a bit too rockin' and risque for country radio at the time despite the path Jeannie had previously plowed with her controversial classic HARPER VALLEY PTA. Jeannie is well remembered as one of country music's sexiest stars with her sassy collection of major hits like GOOD ENOUGH TO BE YOUR WIFE and THE GIRL MOST LIKELY, yet she had some of the outstanding ballads of the era as well notably COUNTRY GIRL, THERE NEVER WAS A TIME, and the exquisite ROSES AND THORNS. This Grammy-winning artist was a real pioneer as a female country singer with a "hip" contemporary image, her music has not dated a bit and is as potent as ever."
