Recorded in Rio de Janeiro with a cast of top Brazilian players, STREET ANGELS IS A PANORAMA OF SOUNDS AND MOODS FROM THE STREETS OF BRASIL. Maracatu, samba reggae, and afro-brazilian grooves are represented along with bossa nova and samba. Guest stars include Carlos Balla (drums) and Marcelo Martins (sax and flute) both from Djavan's band, percussionists Marcos Suzano and Sidinho Moreira, guitarist Alexandre Carvalho, bassists Luizao Maia, Ezio Filho, and Jorge Helder, and a special appearance by the percussionists of Grupo Muzenza da Bahia on the title cut. Jazz inflected harmony and intense solos meld with roots brazilian feel and the unique "pocket" created by these great players. Jeff's compositions strike a balance between jazz and brazilian sensibilities to create a unique listening experience.
