I had heard that Folk music is considered "the people?s commentary", I couldn?t agree more. There is nowhere to hide in the music. It?s usually personal, political and always authentic. There?s a certain amount of emotional risk involved when releasing a disc. It is this type of honesty and dare I say passion that makes music matter. I have known Jeff Murray professionally for close to 10 years, and in that time I have been able to appreciate his quiet approach to making music. I enjoy his honest observations and his nimble finger work (he comes across as some sort of bastard offspring to the late John Fahey). In this day and age his work has a sense of urgency. Standpipe combines the DIY ethos of the late 70?s to our new realities. To say we are living in interesting times is an understatement. Is Folk music relevant again? You bet your ass it is! Music satisfies our most primitive yearnings, and this Cd will give you some peace of mind. Enjoy?
