"Jennifer Pena has become one of the most recongizable artists in the latin music industry. Pena's career began in 1996 with an album called "Dulurza". An 11- year old girl singing like a 16 year-old teenager caught the attention of many people. Who is this girl? Where does she come from? and can she really sing as angelic as she sounds? The answers were: her is name is Jennifer Pena, she's from Corpus Christi, and yes, she really sings. South Texas in particular became fascinated with this youngster. Needless to say, myself included. As an 15 yr old boy I remember attending her concert, and was blown away by her talent. At age 13, the album "Jennifer y Los Jetz" was released. Pena's first single was "Tu Castigo". The album soared in the Tejano community, establishing Pena as the "princess of Tejano". (Which to this day the title remains) In additon, Pena's next project was entitled "Mariposas" which translates to "butterflies" again the album soared, and so did the single "Tengo Miedo" ( I'm scared) by this point the 15 year old had won numerous awards and fans. In 1997," Abrazame y besame" was released scoring great reviews and a couple of hit singles.
After graudating high school and dropping her old record company "Libre" was born. "Libre" (Freedom) personally has to be my favorite album. Jennifer scored her first # 1 single in her career. Jennifer was quoted stating that "by the time I turn eighteen I want a number single." Fortuntely for her, she accomplished her goal. Then we were "seduced" by her follow-up album "Seduccion" (seduction) which again landed her on the one number spot.
"Houston Rodeo Live" is great for the following reasons. First, one is able to hear great live music. Secondly, Pena sings "oldies" in conjunction with current smash hits. Also, Pena does a cover of perhaps one of the biggest love song in two decades "Wind Beneath My Wings". Which is orginally done by Bette Midler. Pena dedicates the song to her family saying "To my family: Thank you for the constant support you have given me. You are indeed the "Wind Beneath My Wings." Furthermore, Pena added a bonus track entitled "Por Amor" (For Love) which is a heart warming track. Also, the album comes with a DVD. The DVD is her performance at the rodeo which is great cinematography because one gets a front row seat to her performance in the comfort of your home. Pena states " To the fans, this DVD is from me to you with so much love." Lastly, the DVD includes a segment where one can see what happens before the show titled as "Antes del concierto" (Before the show)
Overall, this album is wonderful and for us fans who can't see her live, this album is a must have. So sit back, relax and enjoy the show!"

"I cannot praise this CD enough, it is flawless. There might be only two live CDs I have heard that surpass it: "For The Last Time Love From The Houston Astrodome" (George Strait), and "Live At Leeds" (The Who). Jennifer is awesome, and sad to say, she gets no publicity (Perhaps because she is not cheap like Brittney etc). This is a very difficult CD to find (Unavailable on Long Island, New York (I had to get it in the city). Her version of "Wind Beneath My Wings" (In English), blows Bette Midler away. I have 6 CDs of her, and this is her best, please order this one from Amazon, this really is the best CD of 2004."
