New England's Jerks of Grass are on a roll. Finally. After more than a decade as one of the regions premiere live acts the Jerks headed into the studio to record their debut disc "Come On Home". Slated for national release in September has been heralded as "?a disc that shows off all of the reasons they are an acoustic revalation." Recorded live in the studio with no overdubs the result is an intimate sound that draws on everything from Flatt & Scruggs to Bela Fleck to the Grateful Dead. Produced & Engineered with Jonathan Wyman (Rustic Overtones, 6 Gig, As Fast As) and mastered at world famous Gateway Mastering Studios by Adam Ayan (Rolling Stones, Brian Wilson) the Jerks have produced disc that is by Ayan's own account "A fun listen the whole way through. Amazing chops and sonwriting".

The Jerks use their strengths to their advantage as every member gets their turn here. Jason Phelps (Vocals, Guitar, Mandolin) owns every note he plays and shows off his vocal range with often emotional consequences. Multi-instrumentalist Carter Logan (5-speed banjo, dobro, guitar, vocal) shows off his unmistakable style; lending just the right texture at any given moment. Not to mention Logan's classic rendition of "Deep River Blues". Melissa Bragdon (fiddle, vocals) adds an element to each of the 14 tracks that only serves to sweeten the mix. From her stunning technique on the disc opener "Franks Reel" to the heartbreaking delivery of the standard "Tennesse Waltz" Bragdon's versatility is put to good use on every tune. Joining Jerks of Grass in late 2006 Kris Day (Upright & Electric Bass, Vocals, Guitar) former bassist for rock & rollers like Link Wray, Ronnie Dawson, Dale Hawkins, & King Memphis adds an "assaultive" touch to standard bluegrass fare like "Foggy Mountain Special" & "Why You Been Gone So Long" and contintributes vocal on two original songs "Something" and the title track "Come On Home".
