This CD is of two duets of spontaneous improvisations recorded in concert at the Lotus Music and Dance Studio, NYC on April 27, 2002. Alone, Together, Apart is an extended work in three sections that highlight both artists? very personal forms of expression. The full spectrum voice of baritone Buckner couples formal training with freedom to roam; Cooper?s multi-dimensional drumming incorporates tonal rhythmic activator, bass drum, dumbek, cymbals, bowed cymbals, African balaphone, floor tom-tom, keyboard, sock cymbal, drumset, and talking drum into his sound. All Out ends the disc on a brief, light-hearted note.
