"I love the song Flying Dreams. It give me a lump in my throat everytime I hear it. I plan to give the lyrics to the song to my valentine. I hope he likes it a much as I do. Every word can be related to us. I will remember to tell him who wrote it. I remember seeing the movie as a child in elemetary school. It was a big hit then and I am sure it is now. Thank you Mr. Ball. I love your work.Marcus Ray Dillon"

"I have collected soundtracks for over 20 years and I own hundreds. Over the years, the Secret of Nimh has remained my favourite. Every note is pure perfection (except for Paul Williams singing in one track...) It never ceases to thrill me.In fact, I think I'll put it on again right now!"

"Too many times the musical score for an animated film is not given the praise afforded to that of a live-action motion picture. Jerry Goldsmith's composition for "The Secret of N.I.M.H." is one of the best of any genre. Underscoring the exploits of a mother rat to protect her brood, Goldsmith superbly weaves a musical tapestry of mystery, affection, and grandeur. Later Disney animated films would win awards for their blend of Broadway-inspired musical numbers and traditional incidental music, but this film deserves recognition and a place in an audiophile's collection. There are no "catchy" songs here because of the seriousness of the subject matter. But, the score is a true feast for the ears as well as the soul! OUTSTANDING!"

"Jerry Goldsmith said this was his first music score for an animated feature, and I'm surprised at this because I believe Goldsmith created one of his best scores ever. So magical, so mysterious, so enchanting. Before I saw "The Secret Of N.I.M.H.", I was reluctant to watch animated movies, especially the ones produced by Disney until I saw "Fantasia" and this one, which is not from Disney, but from Don Bluth, who directed his best movie so far. I also think that Goldsmith's music had to do with my turning back to watch animated features. His music is so fantastic that this is my second favorite Goldsmith CD. It's impossible for me to give an opinion about each track without ruling one out because everything on this album is great, including the main title song 'Flying Dreams', as written by Goldsmith and Paul Williams, and sung by Williams himself -it's so lovely."

"My first Jerry Goldsmith soundtrack I had. It took me a while to fall in love with his music until one day I rented this film, because I hadn't seen it since I was about 7. I had to see it again, because this music made the film. This music should've at least had gotten nominated. Jerry is now a big fan of mine and is higher in the list of my favorite composers. My second soundtrack of his is "The Omen." I love these soundtracks and I am so glad that I finally gave Jerry Goldsmith a chance at his music."
