Music to wash away the dust of everyday life...

"A Kiss To Build A Dream On is the latest album from Jessica Molasky; and it features the wonderful talents of John Pizzarelli. The quality of the sound is marvelous and the artwork is very pretty. This is a fine CD to showcase Jessica's talents as a fine chanteuse. Bucky and Martin Pizzarelli also join in to make this a very special album.

"Happy Habit" starts the CD with a bouncy little number that sets the tone for quite an album! "Happy Habit" signals an auspicious beginning for this CD and the music that accompanies Jessica Molasky as she sings just couldn't be better! We then get a medley of "You Must Have Been A Beautiful Baby / Baby Face;" "You Must Have Been A Beautiful Baby / Baby Face" has a wonderful guitar solo and Jessica performs this to perfection--and beyond! I really like "You Must Have Been A Beautiful Baby / Baby Face."

"A Kiss To Build A Dream On" is sure to please anyone who loves classic pop vocals; the title track is executed flawlessly and Jessica's voice conveys all the romantic qualities of this ballad. I think you'll like it! There's also "Everybody Loves Louis;" and one number that really shines is certainly "Tea For Two" on which John Pizzarelli also sings. "Tea For Two" is a beautiful, timeless ballad that could never really go out of style and that's grand. I always love to hear "Tea For Two;" but this rendition by Jessica and John is nothing short of total bliss.

"Breezin' Along With the Breeze" charms me with its beauty; Jessica sings this with all her heart and soul and I think the music works very well on this number. "Hiding In Plain Sight" again features Jessica Molasky and John Pizzarelli doing another duet and the piano arrangement gives this tune a certain elegance I rarely hear or enjoy. "I'm Looking Over A Four Leaf Clover" goes way back; but Jessica Molasky makes it sound all so new and fresh with her enthusiasm and natural magnetism. "You're Nobody Til Somebody Loves You" and "Ain't Misbehavin'" also go way back; but again they shine brighter than silver and gold when Jessica and the guys go at these tunes with all their might.

"Heart's Desire" ends the CD; Jessica Molasky sings this very sweetly and I like that.

Overall, the newest album from Jessica Molasky sparkles like a bright star in the heavens! The Pizzarellis help to enhance the musical arrangement along with some good work by Aaron Weinstein. I highly recommend this album for Jessica's fans; and people who like classic pop vocals will like this CD as well. It's also a fine starter CD for people just getting to know the exceptionally talented Jessica Molasky.

"
A Kiss To Build A Dream On...What A "Joyful Noise"

""Wouldn't it be great to make a CD like this? There were no set lists, no rehearsals, just four musicians, with various sized pieces of wood, with strings attached and two sets of vocal cords, a family calling tunes that we loved, and existing for 60 minutes to create a joyful noise." ~ Jessica Molaskey ~

While Jessica Molaskey is building a dream in "A Kiss To Build A Dream On," she's also saying goodbye to the bluesy blues in "Bye Bye Blues" and she's definitely welcoming the bright sun in "Hello Sunshine Hello." And of course, she "Ain't Misbehavin'," and "she doesn't stay out late, she doesn't care to go, she's home about eight, she's saving her love for that special someone." She has called this recording a "joyful noise." It is indeed the most pleasant "noise" I've ever heard in my entire listening adventure.

The beauty of this album is that it was inspired by the great sound of Django Reinhart and Stéphane Grappelli whose recordings Jessica Molaskey fell in love with when she was in college. Joining her in making a "joyful noise" are Bucky Pizzarelli (guitar), Martin Pizzarelli (bass), Aaron Weinstein (violin), Larry Fuller (piano) and her better-half, John Pizzarelli (guitar/vocal duets).

I discovered the singer's inimitable vocal art through her most remarkable album, Pentimento, which is one of the most charming offerings from the Broadway actress that I enjoy listening to every so often. Here, she is at her very best singing a relaxed and reflective rendition of the title track and one of the greatest songs from the pen of Oscar Hammerstein who co-wrote it with Bert Kalmar and Harry Ruby in 1935. It was recorded in 1951 by jazz icon Louis Armstrong who popularized it and made it a big hit in the early Fifties. It is also one of the featured songs in the movie soundtrack of "Sleepless In Seattle."

One of my very favorite tracks is a unique medley version of "You Must Have Been A Beautiful Baby/Baby Face" from songwriters Johnny Mercer and Harry Warren/Benny Davis and Harry Akst. It's such a delight listening to its brilliant solo intro, bridge, and most of all Ms. Molaskey's heartfelt and sincere reading of its lyrics---such as the following lines that can always make the listeners sing along with her.

"Baby face, you've got the cutest little baby face

There's not another who can take your place

Baby face, my poor heart is thumpin'

You sure have started somethin'..."

The rest of my highlights that you'll also love include "Breezin' Along With The Breeze," "You're Nobody Till Somebody Loves You" and a romantic and dreamy duet with John Pizzarelli, "Tea For Two."

She was right all along....it is truly a "joyful noise."

P.S. Thumbs up on your elegant and classy black outfit, Jessica!"
