"I've listened to this CD, and its companion, "That River", on the road from Alaska to Mexico. I never tire of Jim Byrnes's clear, honest voice and clean, blue guitar chords. It's refreshing to find such an artist singing both old songs and new straight from the heart. The songs are alive, missing the flat, overproduced quality that dogs too many "popular" blues productions. Listen to this album, and "That River". It's the real deal."
This man is HOT!

"I'm not much of a fan of this type of music, normally, but Jim is an exception! I've had the pleasure to see him in person, and he's not only talented, but a personable man as well. For those who came to know him through "Highlander"...Dawson rocks!"
Brilliant, as usual

"I've been a fan of Jim Byrnes since I first saw him on Highlander. Then I was amazed to discover that, not only does the man do voice acting for animated shows, has a television career going back years, but is a brilliant blues guitarist and an incredible soulful singer. I had the pleasure and priviledge to meet the man in person in Scotland last year and hear him sing 'unplugged.' He put in a wonderful performance and his recordings are just as good. The funky, bluesy rockin' is guaranteed to make you 'lay down and shimmy, and stand up and shout.'"
Great performer of all blues-electric to primitive-all here!

"I love it! His power drives, his range is awesome here. Uptown; R&B, folky; ballads; St. Louis; New Orleans; Chicago; live; studio. Goes to the source, yet brings it to us today. Great partner to his 'That River' CD (1995)."
