"I picked up this CD used for $2.00 and I believe I got about what I paid for. The track selection is decent enough. There is a lot of good solid no-nonsense techno, especially towards the end, as well as some typical "crowd pleaser" club fodder in the beginning of the CD. The problems are thus: A) The mixing is not all that tight. He screws up more than a few times while mixing the records and he tries to slam in snippets of his next record to liven up a breakdown, but they're mis-timed and mis-phrased... B) The programming (i.e. the order) of the tracks is somewhat dismal, as he strings 4 or 5 generic hard techno records together in a row at one point, that really lead nowhere. One very nice thing about this CD, however, is the complete absence of any trance, other than that, its an uneventful journey into some standard dance records. I think it might be a little bit more enjoyable to someone who is newer to this kind of music, as I've been a house/techno DJ for 6 years. Your mileage may vary, but if you want the goods, get the other CD in this series: Sound of Ultimate B.A.S.E. Vol. 1 - Carl Cox.."
