The last time the great Jimmy Rogers held a guitar was during the final takes of "One Room Country Shack," the eighth track on this rocking second album from latter-day guitar virtuoso Jimmy D. Lane, Rogers's son. Despite his lineage, Lane hadn't decided to become a professional musician until he heard Jimi Hendrix's "Hey Joe," after which he put down his jackhammer and picked up his axe. "I first heard Jimmy featured on KKFI here in Kansas City. Well I picked up this album immediately and have not been disappointed. It has taken up permanent residence in my CD player lately. What we have here is a rare combination of powerful blues vocalization and guitar mastery. Its this combination of talents which makes Jimmy a unique experience. Whats even more impressive is that most of the tracks on the album are original.- a refreshing change from most modern bluesmen rehashing the same old standards. I have not heard him live yet, but I'll be there next time he's in KC."

"Jimmy's latest release, Legacy, taps deeper into his supply of Blues than any realeased before. This album proves once again that he is one of the few vessels by which old Blues and new Blues will meet in a beautiful collision. His guitar work allows the listener to feel the intensity or subtleness of the notes themselves, a feat brought off only by players with TRUE Soul who know how to mix it with their playing. Also very pleasing to the mind and ears is the apperance of "The Old Man" (Jimmy Rogers) who joins "Little Jimmy" on two tunes, Rogers also adds a grand sendoff of his son into the world of new Blues, knowing that he will truly be one of the Founding Fathers of the next generation. If you are to buy any Blues, buy this album, listen to it till you can hear nothing else, then, listen to it a few more times. Thanks to Jimmy for lettin' us in on this one, you are a True Master..."

"Jimmy's finest album in his short career. He doesn't really play Blues but his songs are well crafted and his vocal prowess is coming on strong. His guitar playing with his Dad(the great Jimmy Rogers) has encompassed all styles as is shown on this album. He can also play some of the meanest Jimi Hendrix this side of the late SRV. His Dad also sings two of the great classic blues songs on this CD as he is passing the torch on to Jim. His new album comes out after the 1st of 2002. Enjoy this one until then and definitely go see him LIVE. You won't be disappointed!!!!!!!!"

"This really is about as good as a record can get-- blistering, fluid guitar solos; good backup players; well written & tight arrangements; plus something you NEVER get in a blues album: a clean, clear recording that brings the band into your room. Suggestion: they should charge a couple of million bucks for this record, but include a house on a big property (far from neighbors) and a really good stereo system (with BIG speakers) so you can BLAST this disc. Throw in some bbq, some beer, and some girls while yer at it. If you listen to Clapton, Muddy, R.L, or Robert Nighthawk, don't even think--just buy it!"

"It is not uncommon in music for a sibling to follow in the footsteps of his/her parent. As an example, there is Big Bill Morganfield son of Muddy Waters, Bernard Allison son of Luther Allison, Ronnie Baker Brooks son of Lonnie Brooks to name but a few. Following that line of tradition is Jimmy D Lane the son of the famous Jimmy Rogers. Oddly, Lane credits Jimi Hendrix for his interest in the guitar rather than his father. It is no wonder therefore, that Lanes tunes contain rich riff laden solo's that are both well timed and energetic. The 7 minute "Four O'Clock in the Morning" and the 9 minute "In this Bed" are excellent examples of Lanes mastery of the fret board. As a bonus to both Lane and the fans, this CD features 2 numbers with dad sitting in on the guitar and vocals. Lane definetly carrys on his fathers tradition in fine form. Money well spent."
