Great album, but geez . . .

"If you want the epitome of swamp-pop, this is your ultimate album, with songs ranging from haunting to playful. Especially appreciated by family (who remember James Kenneth Donley as "Kenny" . . . there being so many Jameses in the family already) are the several previously unreleased songs, which sound like the artist is sitting on the front steps of the porch in Gulfport, strumming and singing to the stars. I just received this album last night, ironically on the anniversary of Kenny's suicide (March 20, 1963), and found it the best selection yet of his work. I was surprised to find a lengthy biography of what can only be described as a tragic life . . . very informative, although a bit glossed over."

"When I first heard Jimmy's music, I can honestly say that I felt his heartache and sorrow. I knew there had to be a history of pain in Jimmy's life, for you can hear it in his voice. This CD is in my top fifty of all time. Sincerely Mallory Brizendine (aka Stagger Lee)"
Dark, lonely, tortured tunes that expose the soul of a loser

"Jimmy Donleys' songs let us into his soul. Broken hearts and alcohol combined with his poor Mississippi roots and songwriting ability give us an insight of this complicated man. Donleys' pronunciation and cajun style word arrangements lets me feel what life was like for this totured man. He was truly born to lose, he was Jimmy Donley. Lee Woods . Freedom Radio Network"
