Synopsis

Album Description
An eagerly anticipated follow-up to the highly-acclaimed Steal Away, Kent's first volume of the complete surviving Fame recordings of Jimmy Hughes from 2009.Why Not Tonight embraces this Alabama-born soul man's original Fame/Atlantic album of that title, seven non-album As and Bs and three originally unissued sides - two of which make their worldwide debut here.It was on these recordings that the celebrated Muscle Shoals sound really began to take shape and to define an era in Southern soul music.A mix of ultra high quality ballads and a raft of splendid dance cuts, many of which have remained un-reissued for more than 40 years.Kent will round out the Jimmy Hughes story later in 2010 with a CD of Jimmy's complete Volt recordings that will include 14 unissued tracks, recorded in 1969 and 1970 in Muscle Shoals and Memphis.

All tracks are in beautiful, clear mono (Fame didn't get stereo equipment until later in 1967).

Absolutely worth buying."
