"I've known Little Jimmy before he recorded his first album and I can say this is the album of albums.On this album he really displays his true talents, from his guitar playing to his singing this is his very best yet. This cd is his third and they tend to get better with each one recorded. Little Jimmy is a true Bluesman and if you ever get the chance to see him in person, you must."

Smooth, Smooth, Smooth

"Jimmy King and The King James Version Band are one of the greatest blues bands around today. I was fortunate enough to see them perform at BB Kings bar in Memphis. What a show! Very smooth rolling tracks with great lyrics. Favourite tracks "It Ain't The Same No Mo'" , "Living In The Danger Zone" , "I'm Doin' Fine". Enjoy this selection with a bowl of gumbo. It's HOT!"

Soldier for the Blues, my review from Barcelona

"Perhaps the best JIMMY KING's record (his real name Manuel Gales) this good "Soldier for the Blues" along with another of his essential work "Something inside of me", and the fact is that this young great musician caused quite a stir when he began there the 90' s and is curious that he owes his commercial name, in part because his guitar playing is strong at times to the JIMI HENDRIX's ways and at times sounds as one of the kings, the great ALBERT KING, with whom was touring by 1988.

Coming back to the record, the KING's performances are splendid and with Memphis Soul flavour taking notice especially in "I' m doing fine" and "We' ll be together again" themes that on the other hand are outside of the Blues I like me. The remainder of the themes with more Blues orientation are interesting, innovative and practically with continuous guitar solos (riffs) as in the good open record track "Living in the danger zone" the good and typical Blues "Drawers", "You ain' t bullet Proof", "It takes a whole lot of money", "I don' t need nobody that don' t need me", the funkys "Life is hard" and "Don't wanna go home", a fairly spectacular R&B with sharp guitar solo "It ain' t the same no mo" the really fantastic theme which gives the record name "Soldier for the Blues" with a good and long strumming on the guitar and an authentic great R&B that closes the record "I got sick one day". All in all a good disk of the already gone away little genius JIMMY KING, I give it 3,5 stars
