"Maybe there are other greats of the swing era who combine that great elastic musical pulse with a sense of humor, but Jimmie Lunceford does fine for me. "He Ain't Got Rhythm" makes me smile every time. Though it lacks of couple of my favorites ("Posin'" and "T'aint What You Do," for instance), this CD is an enjoyable introduction to Lunceford's band."
Great swing from the 30's.

"Jimmy Lunceford had one of the finest swing bands of the swing era.Famous for their showmanship as well as their music, the band would be swinging away while the trombone section was waving their instruments and plunger mutes in unison, much like the backup singers did in the soul era.Hitting the bottle, rhythm is our business, and I'm nuts about screwy music are a few of the great vocal selections on this compilation.Lunceford used the first group vocals made up of some of the musicians in the band. And there are some hot instrumentals too. A great intro to swing music and the world of Jimmy Lunceford."
