"This is simply Jimmy at his best. The segue between Work Song and Jitterbug Waltz is vintage. My only problem with this one is that Jimmy received no compensation for a DAT recording done in the early 1980s. That is wrong. Still, I must recommend this highly for anyone who digs guitar."

"For me as a devoted Ponder fan I must admitt that this one might be the very best of Ponder ever caught on record. I thought before that his solo album from 2000 was his very best but I think that this solo recording from 1982 surpasses everything I heard before. We have to be gratefulo of this reissue.
Ponder plays like there is no tomorrow,,he starts off with avery groovy version of Nat Adderleys classic Work Song,,jumps into a funky version of Eddie Harris Freedom JazzDance,,,then beautful version of Con Alma..and then a great and besutful version of Stella by starlight... I am stunned......also..how can a player of this caliber stay relatively unknown,,,beats me. I can not think of any jazzguitar player that can groove harder than Jimmy Ponder,,but at the same time he has this touch of soul music in his lines which makes his playing so appealing.
Consider this as completely non objectiove review.from one of the greatest Ponder fan ther is on this planet.
Thanks Jimmy...see you in Pittsburgh in November
