"I bought Volume 1 of this series a few years ago on an impulse in a record store. I didn't know much about Jimmy Raney other than some loose association with Stan Getz. It was a good impulse...Volume 1 knocked me out. Volume 2 is even better. For my money, no one swings a standard like Raney. No disrespect to Herb, Tal or Barney but Jimmy is the cleanest, most crisp and melodic swing guitarist of the 50's. This is just a great, great set of standards done in either swing tempo or ballad. Raney himself is impeccable but is also joined by some fine French sidemen. Highly recommended if your a small group swing freak like moi!"
