"Along with Big Joe Turner, Jimmy Rushing is the classic Blues shouter. He was fortunate enough to have the Count Basie Orchestra backing him. These are some of his best cuts with Basie at an incredibly low price. If you're not familiar with Kansas City blues or Jimmy Rushing, this is the placce to start."
18 prime vocals by Rushing with the Basie swing band!

"This is essntial music at a rediculously low price! These are the seminal sides by Rushing and Basie. Rushing is the quintessential male jazz singer. Rushing is so smooth and yet rough glidig atop Basie's roaring band. Some classics include
Sent For You Yesturday, Jimmy's Blues, Boogie Blues, Take Me Back Baby, and Outskirts of Town. All classic swing vocals!"

"As Count Basie once told a friend of mine in a radio interview "You always need a taste of Jimmy." Rushing is part of the history of the blues, and if you want to complete a jazz collection get this CD and his interesting collaboration with Dave Brubeck. The Harvard Blues is priceless and on both collections. "Reinhart Reinhart", nuff said."
