You can't go wrong with Jimmy

"I'd be very hard pressed to give Jimmy Rushing, one of jazz's greatest voices, anything less than 5 star ratings on any album he was involved on, and this lp is no different.Rushing's voice is like no other in jazz, his silky smooth style a welcome treat on my turntable. This cd features many of the hits he was known for, such as "Goin' To Chicago Blues," "Blues in the Dark," "Nobody Knows," and "I Left My Baby." Many of the tracks have the instantly recognizable grooves of Count Basie and His Orchestra on them, thus upping the already high ante.The recordings are in surprisingly great shape, which pushes this collection over the top in my book...a no brainer for those who want to hear real jazz voice, and not the fluff that saturates the market today. Jimmy Rushing was the master, and this collection should offer you no reason to think otherwise."
