CD Reviews

A POP SINGER WITH ATOUCH OF COUNTRY...
ernie garcia | LONG BEACH, CA. | 10/22/2002
(4 out of 5 stars)

"JO ANN CAMPBELL WAS A GREAT 50'S AND 60'S POP SINGER WITH A TOUCH OF COUNTRY. SHE WAS RIGHT THERE ON AMERICAN BANDSTAND WITH ANNETTE, CONNIE FRANCIS, DODIE STEVENS ETC. SHE HOWEVER FELL MORE TOWARDS THE STYLE OF BRENDA LEE AND SUE THOMPSON ("NORMAN").THIS GAL WAS ONE OF DICK CLARK'S FAVES. THIS C.D. CAPTURES WHAT JO ANN CAMPBELL WAS ALL ABOUT. SHE WAS PRETTY, PETITE, LOTS OF PETTICOATS, WHITE GLOVES AND A BIG VOICE.DON'T MISS OUT ON HER OTHER C.D.'S AS WELL. SHE WENT ON TO RECORD FOR CAMEO AND BELTED OUT 2 OF HER BIGGEST HITS "I'M THE GIRL FROM WOLVERTON MOUNTAIN" AND "A KOOKY LITTLE PARADISE"."
ROCKIN' JO-ANN

(5 out of 5 stars)

"THIS IS A GREAT ROCK/ROCKABILLY COMPILATION OF JO-ANN. ALTHOUGH THERE ARE SOME BALLAD-TYPE SONGS ON THIS CD, THAT ROCKABILLY FEELING IS ALWAYS THERE. ONE OF THE GREAT UNDER-RATED EARLY FEMALE ROCKERS. HIGHLY RECOMENDABLE."
