"What a great CD! I listen to this over and over again which is easy to do since all 11 tracks clock in at around 30 minutes. There are no bonus tracks here, but what is here is excellent.
Jo Stafford was one of the greatest vocalists of the 20th century or any century for that matter. She has handled many musical genres with ease and here she returns to her big band Pied Pipers days with Tommy Dorsey for the material. Assisting her are the wonderful arrangements and conducting of three of the greatest arranger/conductors that ever lived, Nelson Riddle, Billy May and Benny Carter. All of the tunes are great whether they're swinging, mid-tempo or ballads and Jo sounds as though she was having a wonderful time revisting these hits of the early 1940's. Sammy Davis, Jr. has a great duet with Jo on the Sy Oliver penned Yes, Indeed. Other classics include: There Are Such Things, I'll Never Smile Again, Let's Get Away From It All, Oh! Look At Me Now, The One I Love Belongs To Somebody Else, Whatcha Know Jo? and the fun I'll Take Tallulah, but every cut here is terrific.
I highly recommend this album to anyone who appreciates fine singing and songs. Pick this one up quickly before it's unavailable.
