The best Jo Stafford album ever released

"Jo Stafford combined a rough, bluesy approach with the range and overall style of a singer of popular standards. On this CD, her big hits including "You Belong to Me," "Shrimp Boats," "Jambalaya," and "Make Love to me" are all here, as well as some lovely classic all-time standards such as "Come Rain or Come Shine," "All the Things You Are," and "Stardust." If you are looking for one Jo Stafford album, you will not find a better one than this one."
An interesting compilation of Jo's fifties music

"This compilation is sub-titled Greatest hits, but it certainly isn't that - buy the Columbia hits collection if that's what you're looking for. Four major hits are included - You belong to me, Shrimp boats, Make love to me and Jambalaya - but the remainder of this collection is made up of Jo's lovely renditions of standards, some of which are not available on any other currently available CD of Jo's music.I'll be seeing you (a cover of a Bing Crosby #1 hit from 1944) opens the set, and anybody not already familiar with Jo's music is immediately aware that Jo was a very special singer. Among the other classics here, you will find Embraceable you, St Louis blues, The gentleman is a dope, Stardust and Blues in the night. The packaging is limited - no credits, no notes - which is disappointing, especially at the price, but the music is what really matters. This is a magnificent collection, but if you haven't got the Columbia hits collection, buy that first (it does include some notes) - or, better still, buy the two together. The four major hits are the only songs that appear on both."
