Joan, originally hailing from the Caribbean, spent her formative years in Birmingham, England, starting from the age of 7.
Her immense talent as a creative musician shines through on her release, Joan Armatrading: "Classics Volume 21" Compact Disc, where she effortlessly showcases a diverse range of musical styles.

My personal favorite tracks on this cd are:

1) Show Some Emotion. - funky bluesy rock (solid song)
4) The Weakness In Me - vulnerable ballad
7) Drop The Pilot - pop rock / lite new wave
9) Kind Words (And Real Good Heart) - catchy r&b New Wave mixture
