Bright sparkly steel string tracks, often utilizing open tunings, sometimes overdubbed with the nylon string guitar, and the title track features Euro's piano improvisiations in the mix as well. A fitting follow up to Euro's other well regarded CDs, The High Road and Eyes On The Horizon. Euro's guitar style has been sometimes compare to guitar legends such as Michael Hedges, Alex DiGrassi, and Wil Ackerman. On some of his pieces written for the piano, and overdubbed with guitar, you might almost think..George Winston. There is one of Euro's signature Ambient guitar pieces titled Alone Among Angels as well, and a piece plucked from the Classical repertoire, a guitar arrangement of the famous and familiar Jean Sibelius theme from Finlandia. East listening for the most part, pleasant and generally uplifitng, relaxing tunes and musical textures. The track titled Hedges On The Ledges is an hommage to the late, great guitar master, Michael Hedges, and utilizes a CGDGAD open tuning, and some percussion played by slapping on the guitar body itself! The opening track, River Of Light is also done with the CGDGAD tuning, and is a bit of a toe tapper, inspired by strutting along the banks of the Seine River in Paris...the City Of Light! Reveiller is recorded on a regularly tuned nylon string guitar, utilizing some echoes. It is meant as a bit of a call to Awaken...which is what Reveiller means in French. No Place Like Rome is one of Euro's piano compositions, overdubbed with a bit of nylon string guitar. It is an hommage to The Eternal City...Rome. Chenonceau is a piano/guitar piece inspired by the waters flowing beneath the famous Loire Valley Chateau of this name, built out across the river. Coyote Spirit has a bit of a Native American feel to it, and was inpired by the howls and yips of the coyotes that live in the woods around Euro's Port Townsend, WA home. It features a percussive steel string guitar track, percussion and Zither overlay (played by Euro's long time friend and local Celtic Harpist David Michael) In Your Dreams is a bit of an ambient track utilizing piano in the big spacey reverb...and overdubbed with a sweet nylon string track. All in all, Joe Euro's new release, Souvenir, will be a rewarding addition to your music library.
