"This New Englander with his beautiful nutbrown voice, composer of the final two verses of Where Have All the Flowers Gone, and for many years the advisor to the Libary of Congress' Folk Music Archives, has got to be one of the most underknown musicians around. He is the folksingers' folksinger, a first-rate guitarist, great soul, and digger-up of fine old tunes which he consistently sings with a degree of authenticity that few folk-revivalists are ever able to muster. Shamefully, it's hard to find his stuff on record, in part because his output has not been prodigous. This is a good one, the only one that Amazon carries. Check out Blind Fiddler, Hard Times, Bring Back My Johnny to Me, and Rosin the Beau. And Google up his best albums, too: Drive Dull Care Away, volumes 1 and 2. I give Gathering of Friends four stars only in relation to these exquisite five-star albums."
