"Joey delivers a set of smokin' organ jams here, with help from guitarist Paul Bollenback and drummer Byron Landham, who both add to the jazz pyro-technics. Jim Henry (Trumpet, Flugelhorn) and Tony Malaby (Tenor Sax) add horns to a few tracks, and even Joey himself gets some hot trumpet licks in, showing another of his talents. The tunes include a composition each by most of the greatest modern jazz composers of the golden era of bop (Horace Silver, Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane, and Wayne Shorter), plus a nice selection of standards. There are also a couple of originals from Bollenback, and three of Joey's own tunes, one an upbeat blues "Family Jam" featuring his father & brother. There are a few ballads, yet the energy level remains high throughout. There are enough harmonically advanced compositions to sustain a high degree of listener interest. And quite a few are real toe-tappers!"
