CD Reviews
Outstanding performances of delightful Strauss waltzes
D. R. Schryer | Poquoson, VA United States | 01/17/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)
"Vienna born Willi Boskovsky and the Vienna musicians whom he conducts on these two CDs thoroughly assimilated the essence of the Strauss idiom. All of the most famous waltzes by Johann Strauss II, the Waltz King, are included as are several lesser known but delightful works. Very highly recommended."
Gotta love Strauss

"Johann Strauss is perhaps my favorite composer. The flowing melodies of his waltzes are without compare.
I'm not a professional musician, so I won't presume to judge the details of the performance, but I can say I'm very pleased with the sound quality of the recording."
Music from the master

"I have an addiction to Strauss ... I especially enjoyed my waltzes and listen all day to this music...although they are not played by Andre Rieu and his orchestra, they are non the less great and played very well...what more can I say, I love this kind of music...J. Pollock"
Praise from the ignorant

"If you are a person who both loves music and understands the machanics of the art, skip this review. I love the music I like, but don't play any instrument, no nothing about the workings of harmony, and precious little of music history. For me this is unimportant. My tasts are eclectic and include show tunes, Frim;, Herbert, Romberg; I very much like Beethoven, Chopin, Sibelius, Tchaicowski, Mozart (whom my cat also adores) but I hate Bach; I like Verdi, Puccini, Bizet and hate Wagner. Obviously I really enjoy Strauss Jr.
For me this cd is a good buy. The music is beautiful. The recording catches in one place on each disk, but this doesn't really bother me either. I doubt dancers would even notice.
Forget what you don't know about music. If you like to dance, you like the flow of the music, buy this and enjoy it. Who knows maybe your copy won't skip anywhere."
