An overlooked gem of a Christmas Album

"I have to say that I'm a bit surprised to see that no one has reviewed this John Anderson Christmas CD. I've had the CD for about 4 years, and it's among the top ten Christmas CDs I own -- and I own quite a few.
I like this CD first because John Anderson has a wonderful voice, and shines on ballads -- many of the songs he's chosen for this album would be considered Christmas ballads.
Second, because he hasn't included many 'one off' songs, like so many artists seem to do these days. It's not unusual to see newly released Christmas CDs with 50% of the songs as tunes I've never heard of. I like the classics, and I like them well-done. And that's what you get with John Anderson.
Anderson's voice isn't for everyone - you'll hear some folks say it's 'too' country - but if you're a true country music fan, particularly one with a few years on you, you should grab this CD. Other no-brainers to add to your collection: "Let It Be Christmas," by Alan Jackson, "Light of the Stable", by EmmyLou Harris, and "Blue Grass and White Snow" by Patty Loveless. They are among the very best Christmas CDs - by any artist in any genre - you'll find. For what it's worth, I consider Jackson's "Let It Be Christmas" to be the best Christmas CD ever released -- and I like pop music as much or more as I do country.
Anderson's isn't as good as Jackson's, but it's still a fine collection of mostly classic Christmas songs."
