This is one of the best selling jazz sessions ever and rightfully so. From the opening flagwaver "Moment's Notice", the music grabs you by the neck hairs and never lets up. To call Trane's sound piercing, haunting, or memorable is to realize how easily words fail in the presence of a masterpiece. Blue Train is the favorite of many novices and veterans alike. It re-opened my ears to jazz with the incredibly distinctive voices playing as seamlessly as this studio group did. The album also includes trumpeter Lee Morgan and the legendary bass player Paul Chambers (who, like Trane, served a fruitful stint in the great Miles Davis groups of the era.) Blue Train belongs in every music lover's library. Period.
