"I have been a long time listener and player of jazz and consistently throughout the years, Coltrane has been my favorite player. Being a tenor sax player myself, I feel I can appreciate the genius that is Trane. These are some of his best recordings out of his later work with Impulse!. However, this is not all the sweet melodies and smooth rifts his cds with Atlantic, Blue Note, and Presitige were. Some of these tracks are really out there and sometimes its hard to understand or even enjoy the music. That is not say that there are no beautiful ballads on in this album. This collection is the one to buy if you don't want to spend the money on "The Classic Quartet- Complete Impulse! Studio Recordings" which is his ultimate collection. I heartily recommend this album to anyone who appreciates good jazz and loves John Coltrane."
