"Penetrations: sonic explorations in sexuality" is an attempt to explore multiple aspects of sexuality through sound. Digital and acoustic music is used in conjunction with interviews, actions and monologues. "Penetrations" is Latartara's first solo release, and follows the critically acclaimed debut "With For Intoned" with composer Khristian Weeks.

"After listening to this entire CD I didn't know what it was. Was I listening to music/sounds/interviews/field recordings? Was this a music CD, audio documentary, or sound installation? Perhaps all (or none) of the above? The CD traverses the sonic spectrum from quiet ambient and melodic sounds to chamber music to extreme noise interspersed with people talking about sex - what they say is actually quite interesting - classifying this music into a "genre" is difficult. A number of pieces use text within the actual music. It's an intense CD, both disturbing and soothing, which in some ways made me re-think my ideas about what music and sexuality is/are. I didn't give it 5 stars because I'm still unclear what it is supposed to be - but I guess that's why I really liked it and gave it 4 stars."
