"After listening to Global Village Idiot I was silent for sometime. Slowly a single, clear and perplexing thought crept into my mind: "Was this the work of a depraved man suffering from post-ratrace accoustic exhaustion, or was it a brilliant new strain of the age-old genre of protest music. Upon further reflection I felt a smile creep across my face: it was the latter. The catchy assortment of major chords mixed with surprising loops supports a thoughtful and, at times, heart-wrenching vocal arrangement that captures a yearning for the brutal clarity of the eighties wrapped in up in contemporary post-millennium anxiety and anticipation. This album speaks volumes to generation Xers. Candy for the stepes, of the sweetest sort. In short a must have. Buy it! After all, as we say in Holland: "Kijk uit voor de wortels!""
