"If you can get your paws on the words like my old Angel record had that I got from the Sally Ann record(remember them?) bin, you'll be amazed at the treatment McCormack can give a word or part thereof. He gets you where you live and even where you will be somewhere in the future...for a reording of songs from out of the misty past this is a marvel...maybe even for young dogans like me...53...see ya at the county fair... i'm axin'you...maybe we'll be off to philadelphia in the mornin'."

"John McCormack is unique in the annals of recorded music. A renowned operatic star, he also is unsurpassed in the genre of Irish folk and traditional music, the voice gorgeous but never sounding forced or flat as is often the case with crossover records, endearing, charming, uplifting, natural. The selection of songs here is wonderful, and the singer without compare."
