"The two peace songs are outstanding and I wish it would go on for a full 40 min instead of 19 minutes. Maybe someday they will find the original tapes and reissue them in a longer format or with the outtakes.
Although John on acoustic guitar is great and encouraging throughout the peace songs, it is Jerry Goodman and his electric violin marriaged with the Eastern instruments and imitated by the clarinet, which is so captivating.
I agree with the other reviewer about their island CD for it is also mine, along with Pharoh Sanders "The Creator has a Master plan" (minus the 8 min. of noise& chaos that I successfully cut out) leaving that song also, a 30 minute master piece.

An incredible record

"I don't give praise easily. This is one of the most beautiful records ever made. John Mc. is obviously a very talented guitar player, but few people realize that he is devoted to improvisational music, which is to say he just makes stuff up at the moment. What other people design he just tosses off, it takes Mozart level of musical skill to do this, and he has a lot of skill. Not a popular guy because he is not a playback engine or a pop star. You can listen to this record hundreds of times without getting bored, there is a lot there in the pauses."
Fantastic jazz !

"This is Mclaughlin fresh off his work with Miles Davis & before Mahavishnu Orchestra. I was happy to find a CD release of this album, as I had played my vinyl version to death. Not just for McLaughlin fans - a necessary album for jazz guitar lovers. This is the CD to buy as there is a version for sale lacking some tracks (Peace One, Peace Two). Don't buy the shortened version - this is the original great album !"
