Album DescriptionThis is Parish's first record with vocals in 15 years. He began his career as a singer with the cult band Automatic Dlamini, whose line-up included PJ Harvey, and released a couple records in the late '80s. By the '90s, he tired of being a frontman and opted instead to play collaborator with the likes of The Eels, Giant Sand, and PJ Harvey. All the songs on this record, with the exception of one, are Parish compositions. Sometimes intimate and sometimes intense, sometimes serious and sometimes frivolous, sometimes beautiful and sometimes unpleasant, "Once Upon A Little Time" is a sprawling and engaging record. It talks about the heroic struggle of everyday life, of the sublime and the mundane. It's a grown-up record for people of all ages.
