Takes Me Back To My Hazy-Crazy Days At College
Marley | Long Island, NY | 08/04/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Pentangle, Bert Jansch. John Renbourn, Donovan, Fairport Convention and Richard Thompson....All were a huge part of my music appreciation during my college days, (1968-72). It seems however that in the ensuing years I strayed from my obsession with the English folk scene and took refuge in jazz, blues and country. It's been more than thirty years since I got back into the scene and it was this beautiful old classic by John Renbourn that recently caught my ear. No, this is not one of the albums I listened to during my hazy-crazy days at Windham College in Vermont. All the more reason why I was attracted to it. No one has ever raised doubt as to the virtuoso finger-song guitar style of John Renbourn, and his voice although quiet and understated blends beautifully with his picking. Highlights....Well I love "Nobodys Fault But Mine", "I Know My Babe" and "Lost Lover Blues" but truth be told, there's not a bad cut among the twelve marvelous tracks. Another Monday seamlessly combines Mr. Renbourn's English folk roots with his deep appreciation for American Blues making it the perfect companion piece to the lovely Faro Annie Lp.

If you're not familiar with John Renbourn, either as a solo artist or with Pantangle, then this is a great place to start. Then again, if like me you've been a fan in the past but would like to get back into the music, I'd suggest you pick up on "Another Monday". I'm sure it will take you right into the weekend, when you'll soon be looking for your next selection into the English folk scene."
