CD Reviews

A dangerous trip
Nathan Solomon | 02/11/2000
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Blackthorn's first effort is a dangerous trip. By pouring so much emotion, doubt and wonder about life into his music he pulls you into his world and, in effect, tells you something about your own. If the listener isn't ready for that kind of lyric strength, they may be left exhausted, but more aware of who they are at the end. I only give it four stars because I suspect there is better yet to come from this artist...we should be so lucky."
An incredible cd!

"Blackthorn's cd, I Belong Here, moved me with words and rhythm. He is an incredible new artist with a twist on the blues/folk/acoustic scene. Definately 5 stars! It's a must have!"
FREEDOM FOR THE SOUL, LIBERATION FOR THE MND

"Johhny has created a masterful piece of artwork that is necessary for any CD collection to be complete. "I Belong Here" is in my "favorites" section of my CD collection, wedged in between "Highway 61 Revisited" (Bob Dylan) and "Kettle Whistle" (Janes Addiction). This CD is great for inspiring intense periods of deep thought, as well as going very nicely with a cold "Beverage" and a group of good friends. It is a CD that no gathering here in South Carolina is complete without. Listen to track #10-"Visions", I promise you, IT will listen to you more than you will listen to it. I sincerely hope that this is the first of a long string of Blackthorn works, for if its not, music has been done a severe injustice. Thanks, peace out from Columbia, South Carolina"
