CD Reviews
Fabulous collection of songs

"I got this after hearing Dreamin' a few weeks ago and remembering how much I love that song. Burnette aped Elvis's singing style to some degree, yet I prefer his material to much of Elvis's. This collection is fine, barely an unworthy track on it. I don't care for Choo Choo Train, but the rest is fabulous. Girl of my best friend is one of the finest songs from that era - it should have been a mega-hit. Little Boy Sad is rockabilly at its best. His version of Hello Walls is awesome - better than Faron Young. If you ever heard the excellent out of print LP by Jeremey Spenser of Fleetwood Mac, you know who his #1 influence was - Burnette. If you've ever heard Samuel Oh how you've changed by Al Stewart, you see he borrowed the melody from this collections Angry at the big oak tree. Obviously, Johnny Burnette had a huge influence on a lot of greats who came later. What a tragedy that we lost him so early in 1964. I could not give this wonderful collection a higher recommendation."
