"this is a great improvement on the original album release of the 70's and the bear family re-issue 0f the 80's. this cd has no gaps between the tracks which the lp's had and the extra bonus tracks (inc 2 with carl perkins) make this cd a worthy addition to anybodys collection. the version of "orleans parish prison" used on this cd sounds a lot different to the one used on the lp so i do not know if this material is from more than one concert. well worth a listen."
Finally!!!

"I've been searching for this recording ever since I discovered it existed, probably as long as 30+ years (probably the only recording that I don't own, at least that I know of). The release of this CD I thought ended my search. However, the search continues for the version with the fiddles. This is an awesome concert and well worth adding to your collection. But on a box set of John's music, there are two other versions of Orleans Parish Prison and Jacob Green, both feature fiddles. This CD offers different versions, just as good and I'm not complaining, but would like it if the concert that featured the fiddles was also released. I once interviewed John's guitarist, Bob Wooten, I asked him if he ever got tired of playing the same songs night after night and his response was; (paraprased) - Each concert is different. We play a lot of the same songs, but we play them differently. Something is unique about each song each time we play it and no, I never get tired of playing them - (end of paraprase). And NO, I NEVER get tired of hearing them either and would love to hear each and every version I could get a hold of. So if I could ask John Carter anything, it would be; could you release everything his Dad ever recorded? Contact me if you need help listening & sorting through all of John's recordings. I can't explain it, but his voice and music still massages my soul. I thought after his death that I'd never have anything new to look forward to and would never feel the excitement of hearing a new song from John, but when I heard this CD, I got goosebumps and chills, just like the old days. THANKS this was great!!!"
