"Only the great George Van Eps may have as much taste in his playing as does Johnny Smith. I have this and quite a few of his vinyls and would love for someone to "re-discover" this neglected legend and help make all his recordings available again. A boxed set perhaps. The only thing better than hearing this album is to hear the man play it in person which I did in June of '68 in Houston."

"This album is perfect. Nothing to add to other guys reviews. Johnny Smith is truly a legend, his albums from the fifties and sixties are all gems for jazz enthusiasts. The man, together with few other players reached the goal of making the guitar a serious instruments in the jazz idiom. And he had personality to sell. Now the best news Johnny Smith aficionados. Mosaic (a Blue Note label actually, for those of you who don't know what Mosaic is) released early this year an 8 cds box set with all the Johnny Smith Roost and Roulette old records. It is a bit expensive, but I bought it. It's perfect. If you love Johnny Smith or the jazz guitar, or simply jazz music, you should buy that box too.
You'll listen it forever. At home or in your lucky desert island exile."
