CD Reviews

The Hottest Winter on Record
Stephen M. Griffin | San Diego, Ca USA | 12/16/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Why John Dawson Winter III isn't available on CD is beyond all reason and rationale! This album is likely his best work of all time. I still have it on LP. My stylist nearly melts each time it's played; not to mention my speakers. Perhaps, the next generation of Rock-n-Blues fans will petition label executives to re-issue this on a modern medium. If you're just getting into Johnny Winter or a long time fan, then John Dawson Winter III is the HOTTEST Winter on record.

GOOD NEWS BLUES FANS! I have obtained a copy of JDWIII on CD on the Blue Sky label; however, I had to go to Japan to get it. I do not know the particulars why it's available in limited release in Japan, but not in the states. Lay Down Your Sorrows and Stranger are some of the best of the Baron of the Blues smooth guitar work and this CD has the vocals to match. I advise buying this CD, regardless of price, whenever and wherever you find it.

Peace, The Grifter

Probably John's Best Work

"May be better than the Saints & Sinners LP. Why it's not available on CD is a laugh. Every song on the album's a possible favorite. Mine is "Stranger". I have went to the extremes of paying someone to put it on CD for me."
