The Classical Vision Runs Deep
Mr. Richard D. Coreno | Berea, Ohio USA | 12/21/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"The work composed by Jon Lord was commissioned by Durham University as part of its 175th anniversary celebration.

This performance with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra features Lord as a soloist on the Hammond organ. Other soloists are Matthew Barley (cello), Ruth Palmer (violin) and Kathryn Tickell (Northumbrian pipes).

The classical music is highly "accessible" and would be a nice primer to fans who only know Lord for Deep Purple, though he has had classical aspirations that ran parallel to his rock material since the late 1960s."
