Synopsis

The soundtrack to Road Trip veers away from the contemporary practice of hiring third-string alternative bands to cover classic rock tunes. That fact alone gives this entertaining collection a leg up on its filler-happy brethren. Road Trip--a cross-country, hormone-heavy romp featuring Canada's favorite headcase, Tom Green--boasts cuts from the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Kid Rock (featuring Uncle Kracker), Buckcherry, and even Minnie Riperton. The underrated "Voodoo Lady" by Ween gets a second chance, as do Run DMC's "It's Tricky" and Twisted Sister's "I Wanna Rock," which sounds awfully quaint several years after frontman Dee Snider's ugly mug scared a nation. The shifting gears--from rock to rap to pop to soul--make this vehicle work as both a film soundtrack and a great disc for a road trip of your own. --Jason Josephes

CD Reviews

E.M.S.P. rules

(4 out of 5 stars)

"This CD is tight! It has a great selection of various types of songs that are great to listen to in any mood. Their is everything from some older rock like twisted sisters "I wanna rock" to rap like Kid rocks E.M.S.P. which is my personal favorite because Kid Rock made one hell of a great song!"
Amazing

"This soundtrack, unlike the movie, is highly original and creative, but just as fun. There are a few songs you've probably heard before, but most are fresh to even the most well rounded music listener. The CD samples from a wide variety of musical genres, from RUN DMC's old school rap "It's Tricky," to Ween's "Voodoo Lady," to the Eels "Mr. E's Beautiful Blues." They combine to make a great CD that you can play straight though, an ever increasing rarity these days."
Pretty good soundtrack

"This CD is pretty good. One of the best songs is "Anything, Anything" by Buckcherry. This CD has some great artists on it like Jungle Brothers, Run DMC, supergrass, Twisted Sister, and Ween. This CD is pretty good so if you like the movie, you might wanna buy this one."
