Synopsis

Album Description
With the success of our "Honky Tonk Stardust Cowboy" reissue a few years back, we thought it was time to delve back into Jonathan Edwards? Atco album catalog for this nugget. Released in 1973, "Have a Good Time for Me" featured Edwards the singer and interpreter rather than the songwriter, as he covers the work of Jimmie Rodgers, Joe Dolce, Malcolm McKinney and Eric Lilljequist with a band to dream of: Al Anderson, David Bromberg, Bill Keith and Bill Elliot among others! The result was the most country album Jonathan had released to date, and, strange as it may sound for a collection of covers, his most personal as well.

CD Reviews

Clean and Brilliant

"I suppose this could be disappointing to Edwards 'purists' - he didn't write any of the songs on this here platter. He did, however, pick some of the greatest amongst the writers with whom he traveled, including former band mates from 'Sugar Creek' and fellow stylist Eric Lilljequist.

For whatever reason, the production of this collection is just the most beautiful, simple, clear, and (sometimes) haunting I've ever heard.

The playing is superb and the vocals, as always, just beautiful."
Music at its best

"Jonathan Edwards has always written REAL music. His songs reflect life in its ups and downs. So glad I found this at your site. It takes me back to a place I had forgotten was so much fun."
